PLAYING TUNES FROM ABC2Win
The
newest version of ABC2Win
(the beta) works with any of three music players. ABC2Win can launch
the player
you choose and pass the current tune or several tunes so they will be
played on your computer.
Available Players -- Using version 2.2 of
ABC2Win with an abc tune player.
You may wish to download one or more of the players from this
list. Other players may work as well but have not been tested for
compatibility.
- ABCPlay
-- Freeware Midi player by Bernard Chenery.
- ABCMus --
Shareware Midi player by Henrik Norbeck.
- PlayQABC -- Freeware player
using the long-obsolete, internal PC speaker. This player was
a companion program to the original ABC2Win. Note: some computers have
no internal speaker or it is not connected to the motherboard.
Specifying the Player in ABC2Win
After you have downloaded and installed the player you will use, please
verify the player operation by running it. You may have to specify the
midi device for playback or other options.
When the player is running ok, close it.
Finally, enter the player information into ABC2Win following these
steps:
- Start
ABC2Win.
- Verify
that you are on the Select Tunes window.
- Choose
Options
- From the
menu click on Set Folder for Tune Files, File Size, and Playback
Options.
- In the
Options window click the Browse button for the Player Program -- Folder
and File Name.
- Locate the
player program you installed previously. (The default location will be
under in the C:\program files\ folder.)
- Click on
OK when the program name is shown in the file box. (Program names are
abcplay.exe, abcmus.exe or playqabc.exe.)
- Click OK
to close the Options window and save the player information.
Thanks for your
help,
Jim
